How about a pistol type gun that shoots a grapple-like sharp hook? He uses it like a hookshot in an LoZ game, and it stabs enemies? Would that work?

Still, maybe a bit advanced. But sure, but we can only have one, and it can only be used to rescue others from far away. Plus, it has a limited number of uses. Is that okay?

Yup, I was planning on having only one. Maybe... each rope has 25 uses?

That might be too much, seeing as in the Left 4 Dead, you can only be near death so much. After 2/3 times, the screen goes black and white, and if you go near death again, you die immediately. How about 5 uses?

Then he'd be a weakling. 10? Then he can has dagger, so when he latches onto teh enemy and pulls them to him, he can slash 'em.

10 it is, seeing as we have 5 members as of yet. It'll do......20 damage. And if you could, please explain how you found this. Your friend was a scientist, so they made this invention for the good of mankind, etc. etc. or something else. But please keep it in realistic terms.
