What are your thoughts on Facebook? I check my account daily, but I don't always post my real picture as my profile picture.

Why was that? Facebook don't normally disable accounts.

Re: Facebook
I hate facebook.
My account was disabled for writing javascript as my status.... which kinda sucked.
Never thought of going back... was going to quit anyways.
I find it hilarious when teenagers compete against one another to see who can build the better farm... or pet... or whatever... xP
Let alone, adults >.<
Social networks are over-rated :faic:

Cool. It's quite a pity that Facebook doesn't allow it any more, for some reason.

I use it. I think it's a nice way to keep in contact with all of your friends, and stalk them, basically.

I never plan on making an account there. It's not that I hate Facebook, I just don't really care.

Re: Facebook
The purpose of Facebook is to keep up with friends, family, and teachers or coworkers that you don't normally have contact with. It's a great tool for people who have moved, transferred schools, gone to college, etc.
And I'm sure the people that play Farmville and the like on Facebook think we are equally stupid for playing some of the games we play. Don't knock them for liking something like that.

So you don't use Facebook to stalk people, then? Hmm... maybe you should try it.

Well for me facebook is bad because it mixes my real life with my internet life.

Re: Facebook
I use it for business networking and it is about it, it has worked so I may as well take advantage of it. I have no interest in adding someone who I went to school in grade 9 for the sake of it just because I knew them! I hated that time in my life anyway.

Fair point. You do really need to think a lot about who you add on Facebook, I've learned in the last three months I've been on there.

Re: Facebook
Agreed. None of you know my name, and it is going to stay that way. Plus, even if you did, my Facebook is unsearchable so you can't add me anyways, I have to add you.
If you're going to be a teacher, spokesperson, or anything like that, it's good to keep track of who you add and what you do on Facebook. People get fired because of stupid things they post on there.

Wise sentiments, Supa. And I agree with you, for what it's worth.
You shouldn't reveal your real name or pictures on any forum, no matter how much you trust it. I trust you guys more than any other forum, but I'm going to echo what Supa said. I too am not going to reveal any personal info on here.

Re: Facebook
It's not even about trusting you guys, it's about the fact that millions have the ability to access this site outside of the twenty or so people that come here regularly. Tons of bad people could find out personal info about you.
Example: You mention your high school and first name in a thread. Facebook/MySpace/Twitter search/Google the school, they know where you are, they can ask around and make up some lie about how you were friends with parents or friends from elementary school, and they now have access to you. Just from two tidbits of information.

I regret registering on Facebook. I have the lingering feeling the government is watching me even more and all it's done for me is make me realize how much I hate everyone I've ever met.
