Does Silver EVER smile? I have never seen him so much as crack a smirk. None of his artwork shows him smiling either. He's one of the only characters I know who doesn't smile, alongside Shadow, but that's to be expected. Fans always draw him smiling, looking all happy like, and it looks so... weird. I realize he lives a harsh life, but all that frowning is unhealthy. :Wink Wink:

I'd honestly think there would be something wrong with him if he smiled at all during Next-gen's story. It's like they made it so that he could never smile intentionally.

Do you honestly think that Shadow's got less reason to smile then Silver did in Next-gen? What happened on the Ark was a tragety but we're talking about the destruction of the entire planet here.
They really shouldn't have done this with Silver. I really want to see him smile like Sonic.

That's exactly why I don't like Silver. One reason, at least. Aside from the fact he's a fictional character, how can anyone relate to someone like that? I realize they are game characters, but when the likes of Shadow and Silver are given these tragic backgrounds, I just cringe, because that material is out of place in Sonic, in my opinion, as this series was never about all this doom and gloom. Why does it need to be dark and edgy now? It's became nothing more than serious drama that makes me want to puke. A hedgehog who lives in a destroyed future? Yeah, I know where he's coming from!
Thank heaven Silver has kept his hide out of any mainstream appearances since 06. He and Shadow are just too serious for my personal tastes regarding Sonic characters, though at least Shadow has lightened up a bit throughout his appearances, and hopefully the same will happen to Silver, if they insist on including him in any more stories. I'm still hoping one day I can at least look at Silver and say "He's not that bad." I honestly don't want to feel disgust towards any Sonic characters. :(

HolyNightmaren could relate. He was from a future ravaged by the evils of The Beast. But unlike Silver, he was corrupted and went evil.
Shadow was lighter back in the olden days. Despite his horrid past, he could come up with a quick joke or insult. But since he gained amensia, he's so serious it's kinda sad. And Silver is a caring person who follows his missions to a fault. Don't forget, anyone who loves chao can't be that bad.
Shadow definitely should by this point. He's got the memories, but he left his past behind. Being so serious is part of who he is. Changing your personality isn't easy.
And frankly it's amazing Silver still exists. But I guess his parents were destined to have him. And he can be light, but every time he tries to, some villain goes and threatens to ruin time. Silver is probably some kind of peace enforcer, so it makes sense for him to be serious in times of crisis.

Well, having tragic pasts doesn't automatically mean someone can't relate to the character. There are personality traits and characteristics to take into consideration. There's plenty of people who can relate to Silver in that sense considering I've met some naive, justice obsessed people in my life. Not many, but I have. :Mr. Green:
And don't worry, I'm not trying to take offense. Everytime someone says they hate a character I like I just remember that it's fair because "I hate Sally Acorn." If I can hate someone (even though it's just one character and one from a cancled T.V show to be exact) then others have the right to as well. It helps me so.
