Sonic Generations

A game has been revealed saying that there's going to be a Sonic game that remakes "the very best" levels from Sonic's previous games. Any thoughts on it? What you would want in the game, what it should do, should it have extra content, etc.? Would you even be glad to be replaying levels that you may have already played?

I've heard of this before. A 3D Sonic 2 would make my day. I loved almost every level from that game.

I also think they should allow us to use virtually any Sonic character in the Sonic gaming universe to play the levels (or almost every). It makes it more fun that way.

It is, but until we see actual game footage of these levels, I think it's worth mentioning.

I would love to see some of Sonic's stages from SA1 (mostly Emerald Coast and Speed Highway) reimagined in HD. As for the classics, in particular I want to see Chemical Plant Zone and Star Light Zone reimagined. Extra levels as DLC would also be a good idea.

You got my vote for Chemical Plant Zone. That would look awesome.

Hopefully characters from nearly every game are playable.

Won't believe it until a trailer or official Sega announcement has been posted.
So far it's a speculation and merely a rumor.

I hate to have the same let down, just like the project needlemouse thing..

Uhh, it already said in the article that a Spanish representative from SEGA confirmed it...

I wanna get this game. I hope the earthquake doesn't effect the process of making this game.

I've heard Sega booked the two domain names SonicGenerations.com and Sonic-Generations.com. Expecting a new game, or a collection of old games....
Let's hope they release it for more than just the wii this time >.>

Serioulsly, Sega Should just come out and say what Sonic Game they are going to make next. Personally, I think a Sonic fighting game would be awesome. But Sega had better not mess it up, because Sonic Battle had pretty bad Gameplay, it was fine, but gameplay is pretty much everything.

I'm thinking that this is the anniversary game, guys.

It look's awesome! I think they're trying to give us an idea on how much Sonic has grown over the ages. The other sonic had shorter hair/spikes.
That makes him younger[I guess].

Play as classic AND modern sonic?
I was hoping the AND an OR... cause personally I prefer the modern Sonic.
Classic sonic seems weird in 3D..

Dude, this looks fantastic! It's so vivid and vibrant, and the game-play looks good! I wonder when it'll come out.

The premise is reminding me more and more of "Turtles Forever" (which isn't a bad thing). From the trailer, I imagine that the "Classic" Sonic levels will be structured in full 2D while "Modern" Sonic plays more in the style of Unleashed or Colors. That would mean that there would be two "modes" of gameplay, one 2D and one 2.5D, and either it would be the player's choice of which one to go for first, or there would be mandatory switches between classic or modern as the game progresses.
From there on, the success of this game would hinge upon how it is presented and how it controls.
