Thoughts on Sonic Lost World

Hey guys,

So has anyone played Sonic Lost World yet? I don't have a Wii U/3DS myself, but I got to play it at the NYCC a while back, and it was really awesome - both the Wii U and the 3DS versions. Windy Hill was exciting on the Wii U, but the 2D desert/pyramid level (Desert Ruins) on the 3DS demo, though still kinda fun, was a bit on the long and drawn-out side. However, that could be because there were certain actions that were required that I didn't know about yet (like how Sonic could spindash up walls, which is admittedly rad). Otherwise, good times all around.

So, have you played it? If so, what are your thoughts?

I haven't played it since I don't have a Wii U. But it looks really good, despite what critics and some fans are saying. Then again, you can't truly judge a game until you've played it.

That actually brings up an interesting point - do you think it as a good idea to make Sonic essentially Nintendo-exclusive, pulling the game away from, say, PS3/Xbox users who liked Generations? Also, is it a good idea that they continue this sort of exclusivity in the future? I thought it was a flawed, but still really good game. I just loved the overall concept of running on walls, but there are a lot of things that could have been improved.

Even with the flaws, do you still think it would be a good idea to keep going on this path in terms of gameplay? Would more refinements make it even better than the "boost" gameplay that Unleashed, Colors, and Generations had? Personally, I think it would, because Lost World offered a greater degree of control than the older games.

I've played it, and I agree with sykog. I enjoyed it overall, though it had numerous flaws. I believe they fixed some with a recent patch, such as getting lives once you collect 100 rings.

It was a meh experience for me. I own the 3DS version and played some of the WiiU version, but I liked some parts, but the experience was pretty underwhelming especially after Generations.

It seems to've strictly followed the pattern of post-2002 Sonic games of wanting to be good, but never actually meeting the expectation, with the possible exceptions of Colors and Generations.

It's really bad. You can watch some walkthrough. If someone likes the gameplay, there are Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 already.
