And you're being way to out there when you say something like that. If it were that easy then what they did to Blaze and Nega could've been safetly ignored without confusing anybody.

How about Sonic and Tails get in a huge fight and stop being friends and then Tails gets kidnapped and it's up to Chaotix to save him AND fix the two of their friendship. Though that sounds kinda fanfic-y.
Or how about Knux hires them to keep Rogue off his back?
Or like a mission based game where you have to do a bunch of missions to make money to pay the rent and if you get enough money you get better and better headquarters?

They all sound quickly drawn up I'm afraid. Sonic would just go save Tails himself. I can actually see that Knux situation but played out in a different manner then what's written here. And the third one is the obvious one.
