I'm curious, but does anyone think that an open ended Sonic game would be cool? To be able to explore several locations from past sonic games and such?

But I mean without a level select. Like Fallout 3, where you're just walking where ever you please, doing sidequests and such. No linear stages or anything.

Well Sonic 06 was supposed to be the greatest game in the franchise. 9 similar but unique gameplay styles with 9 long levels with different paths and lots of replay bonuses thrown in, and multiplayer, and some of the best music yet. Sadly I owned the PS2 version at one point and was only able to play 2 player. But wow it was fun. But I was only borrowing it and now have to buy the Gamecube version.
