I have to say yes not only from the reviewers, but from the fans themselves. The Sonic fanbase was actually said to be incredibly polarized in an issue of Nintendo Power because we cannot decide whether we like him or not.

I think he is getting far too much hate. I think instead of hate, he should simply be getting calm criticism.
The series is flawed, but the only games that really deserve hate are Sonic '06 and, to a lesser extent, Shadow the Hedgehog.

I really think the only truely bad game in the main series was Sonic the Hedgehog (360/PS3).
Sonic gets too much criticism for a fairly small amount of missteps.

Well, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes had some camera issues but the camera got the job done. In Shadow the Hedgehog you had to keep a close eye on the camera position but apart from that the controls were very good. Sonic '06 had the same camera problems as Shadow and more. It was the first Sonic game where the camera really felt out of control. Not to mention the gameplay was horrendous. The controls were okay but the game was riddled with glitches and load screens that prevented you from progressing through the game. There are alot of other things I could mention but, like I said before, it's late and I'm tired.
